I've been experimenting with the popular social channels for a while.. I had initially created my Facebook account to view a picture album shared by a friend; Twitter account was created with an intent to check out a handle; not sure when my Google+ profile became active, since Google had tagged this to my gmail and ensured some initial, unwitting usage; I've been drawn to Youtube primarily as a videos consumer, though I've uploaded a couple of videos to check view stats. The LinkedIn account was created more as an online CV, since even years ago it had already become a norm to reaffirm your professional existence. If these are the Top 15 Social sites, apart from the above 5, I've also used Flickr and Google-Photos primarily as an online picture repo; most of my albums were private, with sharing starting in the recent years.
I've been trying to get into a rhythm of using and sharing through these channels, and I haven't quite figured out a right mix yet. Is Twitter for short bursts of creative thoughts, while longer tomes get relegated to Blogger? Is LinkedIn for posting about your work interests and recent talks, while Facebook is for what movie you're watching? If Flickr to share your vacation or party pictures, while Youtube takes the videos from these occasions?
While it takes discipline to keep up engagement level on one channel and build a steady network graph, are people successful growing their digital presence across these diverse mediums? I will post back when I have a sense of being on top of all this.
PS: When I check my Facebook and Google account for other 'social' sites that I've enabled authentication for, this list of infrequent social sites further expands to Meetup, Dropbox, Bookmark, Tripadvisor, IMDB, Quora, Slideshare!
